sequence of experiences
The office unfolds across three intuitive zones: the material library and discussion area, the workstation and founder zone, and a skylit lounge and reading corner. Together, they form a sequence of experiences that shift seamlessly between collaboration and solitude, light and shadow, rawness and refinement. Boundaries are defined not by walls but by planes, levels, and light cuts, ensuring that spatial flow remains visual, emotional, and continuous.
The material library lies at the heart of the studio, serving as a tactile archive of design decisions. Here, long floating shelves display a carefully curated assembly of stone, wood, and tile samples, turning the wall into a living, ever-changing exhibit of ongoing projects. Below them, monolithic counters in flamed granite hold drawers for storage, design tools, and coffee paraphernalia, a deliberate gesture that merges function and ritual. The central table, crafted from a single slab of local granite, anchors the room, serving alternately as a workspace, dining surface, and ideation zone.
The architectural language of the studio celebrates structure rather than concealing it. Instead of false ceilings, existing beams are mirrored and hollowed to conceal lighting, creating a linear glow that defines volumes. Light is treated as material, bouncing off matte lime-plastered walls, diffusing across terrazzo floors, and grazing the black vertical tiles that stitch the ceiling planes. Each texture, from the raw plaster to the honed stone, carries an inherent tactility that invites touch, grounding the abstract process of design in physical experience.
sculptural yet functional
A custom black metal pivot door with monolithic granite handles marks the entrance, a restrained yet monumental threshold that introduces the studio’s material honesty. Beyond it, the founders’ workspace sits beneath a double-height skylight, its glass enclosure bringing filtered daylight and the view of mature trees indoors. The space, originally a utility area, was reimagined as a sanctuary of calm and clarity, where sunlight and shadows choreograph the rhythm of the day. A sculptural central table with metal legs sits beneath an angular light beam, flanked by minimal black chairs and Harshita Jhamtani’s table lamps, the architectural centrepiece of this corner.
Throughout the office, custom furniture reinforces the studio’s design DNA: sculptural yet functional, balanced between geometric precision and handcrafted detail. Terracotta wall sculptures by Rutva Jhoshi punctuate the corridors, echoing the studio’s love for material expression and Indian craft narratives. Bookshelves are seamlessly built into the structure, curating design journals, objects, and keepsakes that reveal fragments of inspiration.
This headquarters is not a showcase; it is a living organism that adapts with each project, each conversation, and each drawing pinned to the wall. It is as much a workshop as it is a retreat, where design is both process and meditation.
