The Penrose House, USA
The Penrose House in Dallas is designed by Studio Dashline as a seasonless Southern narrative, situated within a mid-century bungalow and enveloped by the textures of the Texas landscape. Occupying one acre and encompassing 5000 square feet, the house is envisioned not merely as a vacation rental but as an immersive atmosphere. It is a setting where comfort, nature, and celebration converge.
Tucked between stillness and celebration, The Penrose House invites you to belong.
From the outset, the vision was to create an oasis for hosting, a home that understands gatherings yet protects intimacy, a place that can accommodate twenty-eight guests without losing the feeling of quiet corners and personal rituals. The architecture acts as a mediator between scale and softness, between the openness of Texas skies and the warmth of interior life.

Tucked between stillness and celebration
The design explores a culmination of mid-century clarity and Texas vacation ease. Clean lines, structured volumes, and sculptural furniture silhouettes are layered with tactile materials, warm woods, textured plasters, cane, linen, and stone. The house carries the editorial restraint of mid-century design while embracing the slow grandeur of the South. It evokes Chet Baker playing at sunset, the scent of cedar and linen drifting through the corridors, and mornings that begin with warm biscuits and quiet reflection.
Each of the seven bedrooms is imagined as its own emotional world. Some are wrapped in deep olive and terracotta tones, while others are softened in creams and muted blues. Murals extend onto ceilings, art becomes architectural, and custom furniture grounds the space. The rooms are composed to feel cinematic yet deeply livable. They are not staged for a photograph alone but shaped for memory.
The central living room becomes the heart of the house. Anchored by a fireplace and layered artwork, it is designed for storytelling. The dining room carries sculptural gravity, where long tables host both celebratory feasts and creative workshops. The foyer reads as a quiet gallery moment, setting the tone for the narrative that unfolds within. Throughout the interiors, sunlight is treated as a material. It moves across surfaces, softens edges, and deepens textures, creating spaces that shift gently throughout the day.
landscape becomes an extension
Beyond the walls, the landscape becomes an extension of the architecture. The pool and outdoor deck act as the social epicentre under the Texas sun. A karaoke deck beside the water transforms evenings into performance and joy. A firepit area invites long conversations beneath open skies. Outdoor dining spaces allow meals to extend into twilight. A mini golf course and pickleball court introduce playful competition. The gaming garage, children’s play area, and layered lawns ensure that joy coexists with elegance.
The Penrose House is designed to host weddings and elopements with equal grace. Vows can be exchanged beneath open skies in a setting that feels intimate yet infinite. Walkways through sunlit courtyards frame the procession. Dinners unfold under starlit canopies. The architecture does not overpower the ceremony. It frames it, holds it, and allows love to remain the focal point.
For private getaways and creative retreats, the house transforms time into experience. Families gather without feeling crowded. Corporate teams brainstorm in spaces that shift from dining tables to poolside lounges. Creative residencies find quiet corners for reflection and expansive decks for collaboration. Each room opens to its own rhythm of silence, sunlight, and connection.
Penrose House becomes more than a destination
Bespoke gatherings are at the core of Penrose. From milestone birthdays to anniversary toasts, from editorial shoots to soulful reunions, the house adapts effortlessly. Candlelit dinners become open-air conversations. Living rooms transform into acoustic lounges. The long dining table serves as both a celebration altar and a working studio. Every detail, from the tableware to the twilight, is curated to reflect the story of those who inhabit it.
Conceived not as a themed home but as a lived narrative, Penrose draws from mid-century discipline yet softens it with Southern hospitality. It celebrates the scale of Texas while preserving the intimacy of retreat. It understands that a house designed for hosting must also protect stillness.
Arrive for tranquillity. Remain for the unfolding narrative.
Somewhere between cedar-scented mornings and firelit nights, between laughter by the pool and vows beneath open skies, The Penrose House becomes more than a destination. It becomes a place of belonging.
